Michel DORIGNY (Saint Quentin 1617 - Paris 1666) "Madonna and Child with an oak branch" Original etching dated in plate on the bottom left 1651, from a subject by Simon Vouet (1590-1649) painted for the Hôtel Hesselin of Paris. Beautiful specimen printed on a portion of thin laid paper bearing an unidentified watermark, trimmed inside the impression of the plate and applied on an eighteenth-century paper support on which there is an old hand pen signature, in excellent general condition of conservation. On the reverse side two collection stamps not found on Lugt. Michel Dorigny and his father-in-law Simon Vouet frequently worked on the decoration of the residences of Louis Hesselin, Councilor of State at the Court of Louis XIII, patron and refined art collector; in our case the synergy between the two artists materializes in the creation of this engraving. Bibliography: Robert-Dumesnil "Le Peintre-Graveur Francais" Paris 1838 volume IV page 296 n ° 121. Weigert "Inventaire du Fonds Francais - Graveurs du XVII siecle" Paris 1954 volume III page 488 No. 121. Measurements in mm: 305 x 207 the sheet
